‘Jazzy’ New Image Unveiled By Ryehill Pub

The Crooked Billet in Ryehill, Launches New Identity and
Unmissable Theme Nights Including High Quality Jazz Line Up

Ryehill, United Kingdom – August 20, 2007 – The Crooked Billet in Ryehill (Nr Hedon) today launched their brand new image, a refreshed menu and innovative evening theme program. Owners Peter and Jackie Ling have an unmistakable talent for developing original monthly food and entertainment schedules where no two nights are the same.

The programme features culinary evenings from far flung places such as Mexico and India, as well as Country and Western nights (Sep 15th), 50’s and 60’s evenings (Sept 22nd), a traditional pub piano night (25th Aug) and a new monthly jazz night featuring a high quality artist line-up.

Peter told us: “We established ourselves in Ryehill pretty quickly, and it didn’t take long to build up a loyal and diverse customer base. I am a big fan of variety and creativity in terms of entertainment, and Jackie loves the kitchen to be buzzing with recipes from all around the world, as well as focusing on delicious, home cooked traditional pub fayre, where we use as much local produce as possible.  We think our new programme, and image really helps us stand out from the crowd, and attracts more people to come to Ryehill for great food and entertainment.  Although we are based in a somewhat sleepy village, we are easy to find – just located ten minutes from Hedon and the surrounding villages.  You can even make it here from Hull in just twenty minutes.”

The monthly Jazz event will feature the Rob Law trio and special guests.  Rob is an accomplished piano player who recently performed at the Hull Jazz festival and he has earned himself a reputation as one of the countries most exciting young artists.  He will be accompanied on the inaugural night (September 1st) by Perrier Award winning guitarist and trumpeter Thom Whitworth, and special guest female artist Lyn Acton.  The group will be performing a mixture of easy listening Jazz, Soul and Latin.  “British Jazz stands amongst the world’s finest,” said Peter Ling, Crooked Billet owner.   “I am pleased to announce quality local jazz acts at this monthly event – it’s a key fixture for us”

In terms of drinks, The Crooked Billet is featured in the Good Beer Guide, and also scooped the Cask Marque accreditation earlier this year for serving the perfect pint of cask conditioned ale.  Cask Marque is only awarded to licensees who pass a series of rigorous independent beer quality audits. The Crooked Billet offers a wide selection of resident and guest real ales, as well as good quality wine and soft drinks.  Food prices start from £2.50 for starters, and £3.50 for main courses – portions are generous and there is a sumptuous desert menu that is also themed during special food evenings. The specialist theme nights take place every Monday in August and September, and the live entertainment programme runs most Saturday’s from 9.p.m.  For a full line up please call the pub and they will put you on their mailing list.  Booking is strongly advised – tel 01964 622303.
